7 for all Mankind refers to a brand of designer jeans established and founded by Michael Glasser, Peter Koral and Jerome Dahan in 2000 when they felt that there was a void in the de
nim market - when up to then baggy street styles had dominated, and they wanted to create a collection that focused on superior fit and fashion forward style. Their signature style - low rise, very fitted cuts with classic washes. It was a California-based fashion operation, specifically in Los Angeles. It has since been sold to the VF Corporation. (See VF Corporation)
7 for all Mankind is probably best known for popularizing distressed, low-rise jeans for both men and women, but it also manufactures and markets other fashions for men and women, including shirts, jackets, vests, skirts, dresses, shoes, footwear, handbags and other accessories.
Today Sevens are the staple in everyone's jeans collection, and not without reason: 7 for all Mankind's superior fit and exceptional quality, the labels fashion forward washes and designs justify it's immense popularity among men and women alike.
Smartly focusing on making a woman's behind look beautiful, the brand became an overnight success with celebrities and fashionistas, Hollywood A-listers Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Liv Tyler, and Jennifer Garner all wearing the jeans with the unique swooping logo. In the first year, 7 for all Mankind had sales for $13 million. They were the first to design the low-rise style, which to this day dominates the market. The unusual high price at the time (starting at $175) did not stop its popularity, and other brands quickly followed Sevens lead, which started the designer jeans trend
In spite of the quickly developing, fierce competition from different brands, 7 for All Mankind have stayed on top of the denim game, adding new fits to their classics each season, creating unique washes, innovative detailing (Swarovski Crystals stitched on the pockets), and collaborating with designers such as Azzedine Alaia, Zac Posen and Pucci. In 2002 7 for all Mankind added a men's line to the label (since then Ben Affleck, Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds are loyal fans), and a Children denim collection followed in 2005. In 2007, a full apparel line for men and women was introduced. The company has been able to consistently increase its profit and in 2007 was bought by the VF Corporation.
7 for All Mankind is also known as "Seven Jeans" or simply "Seven".
Who wears it: Angelina Jolie, Ben Affleck, Cameron Diaz
