Retro Moderne refers to a descriptive term for the three (3) dimensional jewelry popular during World War II which was attributed to Francois Curiel, Head of the jewelry department at Christie's in the 1970's and 80's. Primarily worked in highly polished colored golds, Retro Jewelry is characterized by bold, sculptured geometric shapes and baroque scrolls decorated with colored gemstones, including rubies, aquamarines, and amethysts.
