Other celebrities who were spotted wearing David Meister's creations were: Marcia Cross, Queen Latifah, Maria Carey, Daisy Fuentes, Eve, Alicia Kes, America Ferrera, among others.
As a young child in Cincinnati, David was heavily influenced by style-conscious TV shows such as Sonny & Cher, which fueled his aspiration of becoming a fashion designer. His love affair with color and strong fashion opinions was encouraged by his parents, who recognized his keen eye for fashion at the tender age of four. During those formative years, Meister sketched evening wear designs which laid the foundation for what was to come.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning, Meister struggled to live in New York City to turn his dream into reality. Early in his career, it was at Danskin, the original bodywear company, that he learned the magic of stretch in fabrication and how it can be used to masterfully perfect a woman's curves, glamour, and aura. He was far ahead of his time and today stretch properties are incorporated into all his fabrications and designs. Head designer posts followed at various major labels in New York and Los Angeles. The architecture and style of these two fashion imbued cities provided him with inspiration and innovative approaches to his work. The interplay between ease and sophistication can be found in every design he creates.
In November 1998, Meister joined forces with a Californian division of Kellwood Company, to create a signature evening collection. Five months later, he premiered his first fall line, a compilation of modern, eveningwear. Filled with rich color, luxurious fabrics and strong, clean silhouettes, the David Meister collection was borne. It was an enormous success. This led to the introduction of his daytime dress collection in spring 2000. Shortly thereafter, a pivotal point in his career occurred when David moved his company into the illustrious 550 7th Avenue building. His showroom and his designs now reside in one of the most notable high-rise buildings on the famed "Fashion” Avenue in New York City. David is also member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).
David Meister currently resides in Los Angeles. Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue are top venues for David Meister Collections.
For 2009, he was awarded the lifetime achievement award at the Fashion For Life event. Valerie Bertinelli and other celebrities honored designer David Meister with the Vision Award for his achievements in fashion and style
My favorite! I like his colorful daytime dresses, like the abstract print sheath dress, the printed cap-sleeve dress and the print matte jersey dress, all found on his website: http://www.davidmeister.com. I just dont know if his dresses will fit a size 12 woman.
