Christopher Kane refers to a fashion designer who was born on Glasgow, Scotland on July 26, 1982. He moved to London when he was 17 years old and enrolled at Saint Martins School of Art in 2000. It was in Saint Martin where he completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Womenswear and finally graduated with a degree in Master of Arts (MA) in Womenswear which earned him both a Distinction and the prestigious Harrods Design Award.

He did a stint as an intern with Giles Deacon and Russell Sage and ended up presenting his graduate collection to the editor-in-chief of US Vogue, Anna Wintour.

In 2006, he was hired by Versace to work on the label's Atelier couture collection, and served in a consultancy capacity on shoes and accessories. He considered working with Donatella Versace as his career highlight.

In 2006, Kane launched his own label, with sister Tammy Kane as his business partner and collaborator. Together with his sister, Kane built his own label into a major player in the field of high fashion.

Among his awards were the New Generation sponsorship from the British Fashion Council and the New New Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2006 and 2007, respectively.

Aside from designing his own label, Kane also collaborated and designed a collection for Topshop in 2006 and collaborated with Lancome for a one-off lipgloss.

Christopher and Tammy Kane's inspiration for their work can be called upon their childhood memories to their living quarters in Dalston, London.

Kane loves details, a sort of embellishment which can transform a garment instantly - this became his signature style. For his Autumn/Winter 2008 collection, he fused man-made embellishment with delicate chiffons; plastic pailettes were woven into his dresses; cashmere sweaters were stud-embellished and shimmering trousers were covered with oversized pailettes.

For Kane's Spring/Summer 2009 collection he showed spherical geometrically cut circles continued in and around leather and organza sequined dresses.

Author's Note: I love embellishment, I have some pieces of bags with beads, studs and I have one waistcoat with heavy embellishment which I really, really treasure a lot, thus I love Kane's siganture style.
